This class meets for 8 consecutive weeks for students ages 10 and up. Class size: 4 min, 15 max.

24 hours of instruction, $8.29/hr

Saturdays at 9:00am-12:00 pm, First class is 5/25/19

This class with focus on coloring and shading techniques using various materials. By the end of the course, students will be able to bring an entire piece together, make their artworks pop and create vibrancy in their work.

Students should procure the following supplies for this class and bring to class on the first day:
-Pentel Aquash Water Brush (or something similar) -Canson XL Mix Media book (any size)
-Sketching/Drawing pencils, mechanical is fine; however, it may be more difficult to achieve a smooth gradient effect with those
-White gellyroll pen
-An eraser
-24 pack of Prismacolor colored pencils (these can be found at WalMart for $20!)

*NOTE: Kneaded erasers and blending stumps are universal in how they work. Find whatever is the most affordable - they will work fine.

Course Objective: By the end of the course, students will be able to bring an entire piece together, make their artworks pop and create vibrancy in their work.

Week 1:
-Students will learn basic fundamentals while using a pencil
-Light and shadow studies
-Learn about different methods of shading (using a colorless blender, cross hatching, stippling...)
-Students will practice drawing objects from lift using these methods

Week 2:
-Covering primary, secondary and complimentary colors.
-We will cover the color wheel to see how colors blend into each other.
-Color mixing

Week 3:
-How do colors affect mood?
-We will study multiple images to determine what kind of moods we feel from them. 

-Take notes of our observations
-How to create depth and make things look more 3D

Week 4:
-Basic coloring tips including how NOT to color.
-Highlighting using color
-Shadows using color
-Seeing how colored outlines can affect the look of something

Week 5: 
-Covering different coloring mediums
-Introduction/practice coloring using pens/ink

Week 6: 
-Coloring techniques using colored pencil
-Let's see how an affordable colored pencil looks compared to a more expensive colored pencil

Week 7:
-Coloring techniques using WATER BASED markers 
-Compare how a brand like Crayola compares to the brand Tombow (and others)

Week 8:
-Coloring techniques using ALCOHOL BASED markers
-Comparing inexpensive brands to top quality brands
-Looking at the different nibs of the markers and how to use them

Refund / Class credit policy: You may request a refund up to the second scheduled class and before the third class meets. Your refund will be for the class fee less the classes you attended and the $20 processing fee we are charged by the credit card processor. Notify the instructor or send an email. You may choose a refund or a credit toward another class.
