Felting: Painting with Wool - Tuesdays 1-4

This class meets for 8 consecutive weeks. Class size: 4 min, 15 max. Ages 18 and up

24 hours of instruction, $8.29/hr, First class is 3/19/19, 1:00-4:00PM

In this 8 week course, designed for beginner and intermediate felters, you will become skilled at two-dimensional wetfelting as well as more advanced felting techniques while exploring what makes a strong composition, use of color and texture, etc. We will be creating both landscapes as a still life or two with wool and other fibers! 

This course has a $65 supply fee paid to the instructor on the first day of class. All supplies required for the class will be included in this fee including wool, pre felt, etc.

Course Syllabus

Week One: Brief History of feltmaking

                      Wetfelting Basics/Simple Composition

Week Two: The use of color/carding wool to create custom colors


Week Three: Building up a composition/landscape

                        Using yarns and prefelt to add interest

Week Four: How to make a “patchwork” landscape

Week Five:  Felting a still life: flowers

                      Adding specialty fibers for texture and nuance

Week Six:  Revisiting a dry piece

                   The use of hand-stitching and needlework to add detail and extra interest

Week Seven: Creating your own wallhanging-Still life

Week Eight: Creating a wallhanging-landscape

Refund / Class credit policy: You may request a refund up to the second scheduled class and before the third class meets. Notify the instructor or send an email. You may choose a refund or a credit toward another class. There is a $20 fee for refunds.
